Boys Bedroom Wall Colors

My nephews are 8 and 10, they are at the age where bunkbeds weren't totally working for them and wanted to have their own twin beds. I offered to makeover their shared bedroom! They are the cutest boys who are actually very different from each other! One likes sports and the other prefers electronics. What they do have in common is being outside! Since they still need to share a bedroom I came up with a design plan that reflected both their interests, the outdoors. I don't really do "themes" instead I use something as my inspiration, starting off point. And the tree bedding was my starting off point!

Thank you to The Home Depot for sponsoring this post

Boys Shared Bedroom Plan

  • Curtain Rod– these are my go-to!
  • Velvet Curtain Panels– such nice quality and black-out
  • Flush Mount Light Fixture– easy way to update a basic light fixture
  • Tree Bedding– so soft and such a fun pattern!
  • Wall Sconce– we are going to use this instead of lamps with my magic light trick
  • Spindle Back Bed– this comes in other colors!
  • Jute Rug– always a great choice!
  • Nightstand– quality piece of furniture with a modern twist
  • National Parks and State Parks Sign

Everything is from The Home Depot! When I shared my plans I had several people message me shocked that The Home Depot sells bedding! Yes, they sell everything to complete any room in your home. Bonus!! If you order something online and it isn't right in your home you can return it to any local store! Making shopping online less stressful.

Boys Bedroom Before-

Boys Shared Bedroom After

Same room! No more bunkbeds, and bright white walls! It feels completely different in here. The boys are so happy with it! The walls are painted Cloud White from Benjamin Moore, we had The Home Depot match the paint. Trim is Pure White from Sherwin Williams.

The large National Parks and State Parks was a fun statement piece that adds the right amount of drama to the room. We just hung it with nails along the top then finished it with a piece of trim we got from The Home Depot and painted black.

I found mini some bottle brush trees and glued them onto push pins so the boys could mark all the National Parks they have gone!

Those little trees sticking off the map are probably one of my favorite things!

I found those great sconces online and knew they would be perfect for my Magic Light Trick! No electrician required!

The sconces give off the right amount of light for reading and a soft glow to the room.

Perfect nightstand that fits right between their beds. Has a drawer for each of them!

Plant, diffuser, alarm clock and book! What more do you need on your nightstand?!

Very happy with these modern beds! They feel very sturdy. I like that they are open like an iron bed, but a totally different look!

The tree bedding is very soft and pulls in the green accents we have throughout the room.

Swapped out the generic "boob light" for this Schoolhouse light. It was a great price compared to others I have seen. And, with an Edison Bulb, it puts out enough light and a nice glow.

I did green velvet curtain panels instead of the stripe that they had. These are awesome because you don't need blinds with them because they totally block out the light at night! I hung the curtain panels with my go-to black curtain rod.

Also swapped out the rug for a natural jute rug, goes with the look of the room!

Dresser Before and After

They actually had two dressers and a desk in their room and a bunch of toys they never played with. They have a family in their neighborhood who is fostering boys around their age, so they were happy to donate a lot of their things to them! We gave the largest dresser a little refresh….

We sanded any areas on the dresser that was chipped or flaking off. Then, primed it with Zinsser Primer. Lastly, painted it in a flat paint in Bancha by Farrow and Ball. We will put a sealer on the top.

The Lizard made it back to the dresser! And some of you caught the "Fart Zone" sign that was on the Lizards cage. Don't worry, we kept it and hung it on their door!

Happy boys who are thrilled with their new room!! And are already making plans for all the National and State Parks they need to visit!
